Scientists urge policy makers to become the benchmark in nature more aware 09.09.2012 |
by: Pavel Stoev
Diversity is a key element of all levels of life, from individual genes to entire ecosystems. Conservation must therefore also be linked at the appropriate level or scale. Scientists from SCALES, a large integrated research project on the 7th Framework Programme (FP7) of the European Union, their analyzes revealed a number of discrepancies that often arise between the standards, in which there are biological phenomena and processes and act, and the standards in which ecologists work to biodiversity to or explore the standards to which the implementation of practical measures are for the protection of species, communities and ecosystems. This applies particularly to the policy and management issues in the design of Natura 2000, Green Infrastructure and biodiversity monitoring.
