Event alert: 2nd International Conference 'Science for the Environment' 2013
07.12.2012

The second international conference 'Science for the Environment' will take place in Aarhus 3-4 October 2013. The conference theme is to map the research gap of the environmental challenges in Horizon 2020.
The EU strategy for Research and Innovation Horizon 2020 points to six key/major societal challenges to which the research community should identify solutions. One of these is the challenge: Climate action, resource efficiency and raw materials.

Topics to be covered:
- Fighting and adapting to climate change
- Sustainable managing natural resources and ecosystemsEnsuring the sustainable supply of non-energy and non-agricultural raw materials -
- Enabling the transition towards a green economy through eco-innovation
- Developing comprehensive and sustained global environmental observation and information systems

The Partnership for European Environmental Research (PEER), of which Aarhus University is a member, will take the collected advice of the conference to the Commission and communicate the views of the research community to DG Research in November 2013, to incorporate these in the process of developing and improving the strategic research agenda of Horizon 2020.
